Brasserie Zedel

Since the opening of Brasserie Zedel we came several times to try the service and food and we have not been disappointed once. It is getting better and better each time we come and we are sure the new team will be working like clockwork very soon! If you haven’t walked passed Brasserie Zedel yet, it is situated only a few steps away from Piccadilly Circus on Sherwood Street. Its entrance is rather understated like one of a café but be ready to be transported into a different time as soon as you walk down its stairs….

The staircase will first lead you into the Crazy Coqs cabaret. If you want to enjoy a show make sure you book your tickets online and as early as possible as they fill up really quickly (http://www.brasseriezedel.com/artists).  Once you passed Le Cabaret you will get to Le Bar Americain, a cocktail bar serving from 4.30pm to midnight. The décor and its music will make you feel like being in an episode of Hercule Poirot!

Le Bar Americain deserve your full attention should you be heading for dinner… Ask one of the talented Bartenders to execute a classic  like a Negroni or The Colloway (Cognac, Port, Crème de Figue, Sugar and Egg white) £9.75 . The bar is selling as well the Pommery Apanage Rose NV at £70 per bottle and Bollinger Special Cuvee NV at £75.00 so definitely not overpriced for cocktails and Champagne.

The bar is quite lively and has a great buzz, so even if you are looking for an after dinner drink, this would be a good place to come to. The team at the bar is extremely professional and knowledgeable, you can definitely challenge them with cocktails that aren’t on the list… We went for some classics like a Negroni and The Colloway (Cognac, Port, Crème de Figue, Sugar and Egg white), had a good look at their elaborate choice of champagnes and decided to celebrate the next big “occasion” here with a bottle of Pommery Apanage Rose NV or Bollinger Special Cuvee NV. Prices are reasonable here with a bottle of champagne coming in between £70 and £80, so we are not trying to be decadent here…Meet Pepito, le Bar Americain mascot !

After finishing our drinks we were led to our table in the middle of the beautiful former ballroom that is now Zedel Brasserie. You immediately feel like being in Paris! We quickly ordered our starters of Celeri Remoulade £2.95 and soupe de poisson et sa rouille £4.95, followed by a Couscous £12.95 and a typical steak frites £7.50.

The service was excellent and the food comes out really quickly. The idea is of course for you not to stay at the table too long in order to head back to the bar to sample more of their great cocktails.

Given the lively but great atmosphere we recommend to come here with little groups of 3 to 4 people. Couples out to celebrate some romance will probably feel lost here. So if you are looking to have a great night out with some friends and are looking for great value for money you should come to Brasserie Zedel…. You will not be disappointed.
