Heading for the Bulgari Hotel in Knightsbridge, we were curious about what we would find after having read last week’s review calling the new hotel “Vulgari”! But I always try to keep an open mind and therefore we were ready to embrace the over the top designed hotel. And over the top it was – in the best sense possible! We received some of the best service we had in London for a long time! From the second we entered the Hotel to the moment we left the staff made our experience truly enjoyable and looked after us like Royalty.
We headed for some cocktails at Il Bar, which immediately shouted glamorous, exquisite and most fashionable at us! We loved the theatrical bar in the middle of the room with amazing reproduced hammered silver. Its dark décor can easily suit a romantic date and a girls night out alike. We felt like in a new episode of SATC !
Il Bar offers elaborate cocktails and some nice snacks to keep in the tradition of the Italian aperitivo, although we must admit we didn’t find anything else traditional about Bulgari ! We ordered a Peach Belini made with fresh peach and a Sour Aperol topped with grapefruit & egg white, definitely a great one to try. They were served with a beautiful plate of snacks (some other the 5*hotels could learn from); fresh and high quality products such as Parma ham, bread, tasteful olives and tomatoes filled with feta cheese. Bulgari doesn’t do dry fruits & nuts and we loved it for that!! When it came to the bill we decided the price was good for the service and quality of drinks we received.
The Bulgari Hotel London is maybe not to everybody’s taste but they definitely offer great products and impeccable service in, for us, beautiful surroundings. The style will most likely appeal to a Middle Eastern and Russian clientele. If this is not your cup of tea still remember Il Bar if you want to enjoy some fabulous cocktails…
