We headed to Fishworks restaurant in Piccadilly on Saturday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant ethics is to sourcing and preparing the freshest, highest quality seafood to their customers. Fishworks has restaurants in Piccadilly, Marylebone and Richemond.
What I love about Fishworks is that each of their restaurants have their own Fishmonger attached with a wet fish counter where you can select any fish or crustacean and have it cooked there and then. You can’t get any more fresh than than !
First, our waitress presented us with 3 fishes of the day and recommended us some specials. We ordered some bread which came with salsa Verdi & aioli £2.50 and two glass of wine.
We started our lunch with some deep fried calamari with saffron aioli £8.25 (not sure why I had so many squid in the plate though) and the crispy fried baby squids with chilli, spring onion and aioli £6.25. The starters did not rock our boat, I was expecting a better batter for the calamari and more flavours…
Fortunately the main courses, were much tastier and in line with Fishworks standards. We ordered the steamed rope grown mussels (starter portion £6.75) which was cooked to perfection with a lovely sauce and one of the specials, the grilled sardines £10.00. My guest commented that three sardines were not enough as he liked it so much that he could have done with one or two more!
I truly liked the location and the décor of the restaurant. I wasn’t too convinced with the service and our starters but the main courses were good. I will come back though as the seafood platters looked truly impressive! Final bill with 2 glass of wine and a bottle of sparkling water £56.40.
