On my birthday afternoon, I made my way to the the Skin Health Spa in Marylebone which is only a short walk from Bond Street tube station and Oxford Street. The location is perfect for a stop over after a busy shopping trip ! They have six clinics nationwide in Birmingham, Leamington Spa, Nantwich and Manchester, London so don’t feel bad if you aren’t living or working near Marylebone, you might be able to find a salon near you.

I tried out the Ultimate Facial aimed to help my skin combat all the make-up applied and London polution! To start, a glycolic cleanser (soap free and non-irritating) was used to remove my make-up then I was applied the Jan Marini Enzyme masque. (Products can be buy in the salon)

The microdermabrasion treatment followed, it is used to treat lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, stretch marks and pigmentation problems and removes gently all the dead skin from your epidermic. I did felt a bit uncomfortable at first but quickly got used to the effect of the little “skin hoover” as I called it ! After that the Inspira cream hygra masque transdem was applied followed by a gentle massage.

Next up came the Transderm part of the facial. A hand held device uses electrical pulses to massage a hydrating mask into your skin. The massage can take up to 40-50min. I could feel the muscles (yes I have some!) underneath my skin contract and release which is not exactly what I would call relaxing…but fun as I could not stop laughing which I am not sure it was the idea behind this facial… Fortunately, the power of the Transderm treatment can be controlled  and therefore be stronger for more mature skin but as my therapist mentioned, I have a baby face for a 30 years old so I asked to be turned down a little bit. The Inspira serum was applied to my skin (which is a bit sensitive) to calm the effect of the Transderm massage.

The Ultimate Facial is then concluded with a gentle facial massage using the Jan Marini cream 33 SPF moisturiser. My therapist could not express stronger how important it is to use an SPF moisturiser after receiving a microdermabrasion treatment. The skin is extremely vulnerable after having all the dead skin cells removed so it is important to take good care of it afterwards. It is required not to wear make-up after the massage, if possible best to wait a day and no face wash. Sunbed is strongly forbidden during the course of the treatment as well.

The result has been fantastic on my skin, way more plumped and healthy looking ! 2 weeks on and I can still see the results. Ideally, therapists recommend to come back every 3-4 week depending on the type of your skin to gain the best results.  Although at £245.00 for one treatment and £555.00 for a course of 3 it is not on the cheap side but this is one of the best facial you can get…
