Marseille, City of Culture 2013 !

In 2013, Marseille – Provence became the European Capital of Culture ! The city is now a point of meeting for culture, politics and economy. Marseille prides itself to offer visitors a unique historical heritage, a popular culture and a zest of Orient throughout its markets and gastronomy. With 300 days of sunshine a year, La Cité phocéenne of Marseille is a very attracting place to head to for a long weekend (sun was shining at 17C + on my trip early march!) and so easy to go to. Less than 2 hours from London with many flights from Air France, Ryanair, Easy jet…  or by train using the TGV from Paris or Lyon.

Great tips : If you want to explore the area, i advice you to rent a car at the airport. There are many rental car companies available. While planning a long weekend in Marseille, take some time to visit the beautiful city of Aix en Provence, Le Castellet, Sanary Sur Mer or Toulon… To find out more about Marseille – Provence City of Culture 2013, visit www.mp2013.fr !
