Let me tell you about the Var Region…

I cannot tell you how much I love the South of France and more especially the Var region. It is one of the southerner department of Provence Alps Cote d’Azur. In some of the villages, time seems to have stopped and yet embraced the modern world without loosing the Provençal character of the region.

I often fly to Marseille Provence Airport with Easy Jet & Ryanair. Last time, however, I decided to try the  rater small Toulon Hyeres airport . From London it only takes 2 hours to reach the beautiful Provence, the sunshine and the beaches so it would be a shame not to visit regularly !

The sea appearing in front of me with its deep blue colour, the palm trees, the sunshine makes me straight away feel like I am here to enjoy and relax. There is definitely something extremely special about this region…

I have already wrote about my time in Marseille, back in February 2013. To read again the post, please click here !

However, this time in July 2013, I spend a wonderful day at the Ile de Bendor . The island can be reached by a short boat trip, no more than 10min, from Bandol.
We had a long lunch filled with fresh fish and Rose at Le Grand Large restaurant. The view is amazing, the restaurant is facing the Mediterranean sea, I highly recommend it ! We then spent the rest of the day chilling in a small beach waiting for the “navette” to pick us up back to Bandol.

I spent some late afternoons in Sanary sur Mer, one of my favourite little town for shopping, eating in the marina, going to the evening market, and walk along the authentic small city’ streets. If you come early…very early in the morning you will see the fishermen preparing their market’ stoles !

Everything here taste better, sounds better and looks better ! What can I say, I have fallen in love for the region. There are many nautical activities, hikes, historic buildings, restaurants, beaches,…to keep you entertain every single day ! The great thing is it is rather safe and although expensive, not as crazy expensive as in St Tropez or Cannes.
