The Banke Hotel is located in the 9th district, in a very influential area, close walk to the Opera, Galleries Lafayettes and Le Printemps, the Boulevard Haussmann. The short taxi ride from the train station, gives the hotel the perfect location for guests arriving via Eurostar from London.
The hotel has a clear boudoir feel and is absolutely perfect for those romantic weekends. I loved the style of the restaurant and the bar…rather “bling bling” as the French would say. The 94 rooms and suites with tones of creme & chocolate, bordeaux, designed bathrooms and furnitures mixed perfectly contemporary style and the “Haussmanien” style.
The bathroom was large enough for one person, with beautiful emerald mosaics and plenty of towels and bathrobe for me to feel at home. Only problem was the toiletries…as the hotel is part of Derby Hotels collection they are using the house brands which was not good at all for the skin or hair. I don’t know about you but I love a good toiletry brand when I am staying at a hotel even though I bring my own products !
Although, I was not blown away by my room, I had a pleasant stay in my room. I was told by a maid the Suites were AMAZING…wish I was booked in it !
The restaurant Josefin was the great surprise of my stay. Although not busy, the food, a mixture of French and Spanish was excellent. The service was warm yet discreet enough as I dined with friends and on my own.
The Banke Hotel is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Derby Hotels which bring confusion to the product. I have stayed in many SLH hotels to say that The Banke Hotel although nice is not a true representative of the brand as not Luxury enough in so many details : service with the Front desk team, room facilities, gym or toileteries.
The Banke Hotel miss a “je ne sais quoi of Small Luxury Hotels” which can surely be fixed should management wishes to.
