Le Pigonnet Hotel & Spa, Aix en Provence

Nothing said more “I love you” then a surprise getaway in Aix en Provence and this is exactly what happened to me. My hubby booked a one night stay at Le Pigonnet, a Small Luxury Hotels of the World hotel in the outskirt of Aix en Provence. I had been to the city many times before and even took hubby there a couple of years ago so we were not thinking too much about visiting but more about relaxing after the last crazy two weeks we experienced.

View from our room…

The room was stylish and oozing Provençal style  – although rather small 14-16 sq meters – the décor and  the view over the impressively 1.5 ha landscaped garden really made up for it. The bed was comfortable and I loved the little alcove, so French, in the wardrobe – instead of a side table – and there was a plug for my phone, yes – I was in heaven !

The bathroom was incredibly sleek and modern, the walk in shower perfect and what a luxury, getting ready while enjoying the beautiful view over the garden.Bathroom at Le Pigonnet, Aix en Provence

So you might want to know what to do at Le Pigonnet ?

Well, that day we did absolutely nothing except lounging by the pool, walking along the amazing garden and  just enjoying this little bubble of Provence. We were so “busy” that we did not even check out the Spa !

Chilling by the pool...

We loved our lunch so much at La Table du Pigonnet that we came back another 2 times in the 24h we stayed at the hotel ! The food was Mediterranean yet modern, very delicious to eat and to look at. I recommend you to book your table as it can become fully booked quickly especially if you want to eat outside.

After our day by the pool, we got ready and headed to the outside bar in the garden for a glass of Champagne. The bar really came to life at night time…

This Provençal manor combining tradition and modernity was perfect, we had a wonderful time there and we will definitely come back.

The only negative points was that although we mentioned to the Receptionists we just got married and were Small Luxury Hotels members, no acknowledgement to those 2 facts were given to us which was a bit disappointing.
