For my first trip to Vienna, I stayed at the Hotel Bristol . The hotel was opened in 1892 and is packed with history, it still reflect the grandeur of the Viennese Imperial and art deco style. The location of the hotel is wonderful, right in the centre of the 1st district, a few minutes away from the Sacher Hotel (make sure you pop in to get a Sacher torte!), the Opera House, St Stephen’s Cathedral – most commonly known in German as the Dom.
I was greeted warmly by the Reception and escorted quickly to my room. I was delighted to find 2 bottles of water and fresh fruits on my arrival.
I was delighted with my room, a Deluxe Room with an amazing view over the Opera House. The style of the room was exactly what I expected and even more : bright marble, antique fireplace (loved that the heating system had been placed behind this beautiful piece), elegant mirrors and rich fabrics of gold and nature colour tones. With over 40 sqm this room is perfect for leisure and business as the comfortable armchair enable you to relax and the desk to work, best of both world if you ask me ! Wifi is complimentary and rather easy to get on to.
The marble bathroom was elegant, large, many towels and bathrobe were provided. Great mirrors vs light which was wonderful for me to get ready and apply make up in the morning. All female readers will understand what I mean… In addition, a large walk-in wardrobe was at the entrance of the room. I personally did not use it as I only spent one night at the hotel and found it a bit too remote from the bathroom and room. That’s the problem with large rooms 🙂
Breakfast of Brioche, muffins, fresh breads and cakes !
Overall, it was a lovely stay, short though but the room was really comfortable and I slept very well, the location, the view and the style was wonderful.
I would have loved a bit more interest shown to me by the team. Indeed, I often found myself being moved to the side or ignored as staff were more interesting in pleasing Men travellers and rushing to their needs than answering my requests for taxi, directions, waiting for a table at breakfast,… As a female business traveller I am very sensitive to this and cannot comprehend that it still happens.
